Renowned property development group Nerang St Pty has submitted a development application with the Gold Coast City Council to develop eight towers and a retail precinct on the former Gold Coast Hospital site in the heart of Southport.
According to the application, the 'transit-oriented' development will feature a 120 room 19-level residential complex, in addition to a 17-level residential tower and a retirement facility spread across two towers of 25 and 21 levels respectively.
A further four towers, ranging from 12 to 14 levels will feature short-term accomodation as well as residential facilities.
Accompanying the development will be associated medical centres, a cinema complex, supermarket and other retail offerings.
The application was filed yesterday and it is understood the developer plans to begin construction later this year.
The site falls within the Southport Priority Development Area (PDA), aiding the likelihood of approval by Councillors.
